Etrucks® offers with LEHVF Grant

Etrucks® offers with LEHVF Grant

The Government’s Low Emissions Heavy Vehicle Fund is now live.
Funding limits vary according to each weight class, but basically there will be 25% off the cab chassis price of any zero or low-emissions truck that features on ECCA’s approved list over 5900kg GVM.

Etrucks® commends this initiative. With the LEHVF, the total cost of ownership of our EV trucks will now be less than diesel trucks in many applications.

Our flagship Windrose E1400 is already the industry leader in its class for the three most important BEV parameters, TCO, payload and duration. With the LEHVF grant the initial price drops considerably.
We can now also offer the E1400 in “ultra light” configuration for those who don’t need over 600km duration. The tare weight can be as low as 9700kg.

Contact us for the details and to start the application process for a part-funded vehicle.

All the following trucks from Etrucks® also qualify for the LEHVF grants.

Our ultra light class one Qingling EVM100. At 2315kg GVM with a 100kWh battery the EVM100 are up to a tonne lighter than competitors class one trucks. 260km duration is achievable, over 300km with the optional 120kWh battery via the Bosch integrated drive axle.

The very smart small Farizons are the biggest selling small electric trucks in the world with 22% market share in China. Both SWB and the larger battery LWB versions are available to order now. The SWB can be class one if you prefer.

Our waste industry trucks include the RCV10E 10cbm rear loaders. The XCMG superstructure is mounted on a Qingling 12,495kg GVM cab chassis with a tare of 7,710kg. The trucks feature a 162kWh CATL battery.

The same truck can be offered as the SL8E skip truck with 5 tonne payload. The skip truck uses a HVYA bin lifting superstructure.

Our 12t XCMG E400 has a 5t payload as a metro tipper. Fitted with an integrated drive axle and Hyva hydraulics these are ideal to complement your electric diggers and loaders. We also have one being built as a curtainsider with tail lift.

Completely from left field this EV truck range from Kaiyun Motors that looked like they were built from zinc coated sheet steel.

IAA was dominated by new energy trucks powered by batteries, hydrogen fuel cell, hydrogen internal combustion, bio-methane, and bio-diesel. There were a few diesel trucks on the main stands, but you had to seek them out.

There were other aerodynamic shaped BEV trucks on display as well, this one also attracted a lot of attention.

I was in Hefei recently for some more Windrose testing. We used 109kWh of battery to travel 104km on the test track at a steady 80kph loaded to 49t gross. That is 1.05kWh/km, which indicates a duration of 624km with 10% battery remaining. Very impressive.

Yep we were loaded, not that you noticed much with 1400hp available. The truck on the right is the demo unit on it’s way to New Zealand.

Windrose will exhibit at IAA in Hannover, hall 12, stand B71. Etrucks® will be on site on the 19th and the 20th of September. Let me know if you would like to meet at the stand to check out the truck, or book a test drive.

Customer tests are also continuing including a Shanghai to Nanjing round trip for Rittal

Etrucks® are delighted to announce we are now the New Zealand dealers for the Windrose E1400 long range BEVs. These very slippery semi tractors achieve a range of 670km at 49 tonne. That means the Auckland to Wellington run is possible with minimal on highway charging, perhaps none at all.

The 729kWh battery can accept either MCS or dual gun CCS2 charging. Either system can add 400km range in 35 minutes. The peak power is 1400hp, with over 900hp being continuously available from the two integrated drive axles.

A demonstration unit will be shipped to New Zealand in September for comprehensive testing. The center-line cabin offers a unique driving experience

Our 12t GVM E400s have arrived in New Zealand. We can now offer fully electric contractors packages with metro tippers, excavators and wheel loaders.

Timing

  • The first Windrose E1400 demonstrator will arrive in late September 2024.
  • We will be able to accept orders for production trucks by mid 2025.

Recent Budget Announcement

  • The grant scheme for clean heavy vehicles was announced in the recent budget.
  • The quantum is $30 million over three years.
  • The grant scheme will mean a significant rebate on large BEV trucks like the Windrose.
  • Full details available in August.

Manufacture

  • The trucks for New Zealand will be assembled by Higer near Shanghai.

Rating

  • The maximum GCM of the Windrose E1400 will be 58t for the New Zealand market.
  • This will allow the truck to operate under HPMV permitting with Quad Semi and B Double configurations initially.

Battery choice

  • We have chosen LFP batteries for New Zealand.
  • They can offer a life of 3,000 cycles or more.
  • At 600km per charge that means 1,800,000 km of battery life.

Charging

  • The Windrose E1400 can be configured with megawatt charging (MCS) or dual gun CCS2. Either system will allow the addition of 400km of range in 35 minutes of charging.
  • This is an important consideration to future proof the trucks.

Duration

  • The Windrose E1400 has a loaded range (49t) of 670km (CHTC-TT)
  • Under New Zealand conditions it will be somewhat less, depending on trailer configurations etc.
  • However the truck will be capable of Auckland to Wellington with minimal on highway charging.
  • Then around half an hour charging and Picton to Christchurch is possible.
  • Then around another half hour charge and carry on to Dunedin.

Battery lease / battery as a service

  • We have partnered with Zenobe to offer a 10-year battery lease, if requested by the customers.
  • That takes the battery ownership risk away completely.

Zenobe Services

  • Battery monitoring & performance validation
  • Initial battery acceptance testing
  • One battery replacement in the 10 year lease
  • Zenobe take risk if truck off road due to battery issue
  • Warranty on battery sits with Zenobe
  • Used batteries repurposed into second life applications.

Energy savings

For TCO on the Windrose E1400 this is an estimate of the potential energy savings.

Kilometres Efficiency Fuel cost Total Annual Cost
Diesel use (at 45t GCM) 100,000 50 l/100km $1.70/litre $85,000
Electricity 100,000 1.2 kWh/km 15c/kWh $18,000
Annual Energy Savings $67,000

Duration

  • A recent test at 26t GCM for Decathalon resulted in 913km duration without top up charging.
  • On another test from Beijing to Guangzhou at 49t GCM, the journey of 2253km was achieved with only two on highway charging sessions.
